Divine Healer

Divine Healer

President Quinn’s Weekly Message

California Santa Rosa Mission

April 14th, 2025

During interviews this last week, I have enjoyed learning from many of you which name for Jesus Christ is your favorite – and why. The many inspired titles for Jesus Christ, nearly 200 found in the scriptures, testify to His divinity and multiple roles in the plan of salvation.

Today I would like to share one of my favorite titles for the Savior – Divine Healer.

The Savior spent much of His short life healing. The scriptures record, “All the people were amazed” (Matthew 12:23). They brought their sick, their “blind, and dumb” (Matthew 12:22), those that were “possessed with a devil” (Matthew 12:22; also Mark 1:32), and their dead. They sought Him every day. So great was His reputation and His healing power that they sought to “only touch the hem of his garment; and as many as touched were made perfectly whole” (Matthew 14:36). “And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching . . . and preaching the gospel…, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people” (Matthew 9:35).

Later, during His short appearance in the Americas the Savior continued healing:

“Have ye any that are sick among you? ... Have ye any that are lame, or blind, or halt, or maimed, or leprous, or that are withered, or that are deaf, or that are afflicted in any manner? Bring them hither and I will heal them one...”  (3 Nephi 17:7-9)

I have been blessed in my life from the Savior’s healing power. Nearly 40 years ago I joined one of the world’s largest management consulting firms.  I quickly discovered that I was working with very capable and smart people. I became intimidated by the talents and intellect of my colleagues. I began to doubt myself. As these doubts pressed on me, I began to feel overwhelming anxiety – it became my constant companion.  I could not escape it.  My anxiety paralyzed me.  I questioned my self-worth. I often awoke in the middle of the night with dark thoughts of failure. I would lay in my bed for hours fearing the sound of my alarm pushing me back to work. I feared for my job and my ability to provide for my family.  After several months of suffering with this anxiety, I sought out a priesthood blessing. In the blessing I was given specific actions to take. Through these actions I was promised increased faith. Slowly over time, through the Savior’s grace and Sister Quinn’s loving encouragement and confidence in me, my self-confidence returned – and I once again felt the Savior’s peace.

I am confident there are many of us in CASRM battling a personal tribulation or affliction. For some of us, our battle may have been going on for months or years – despite the faith we have exercised, the actions we have taken, and the grace we have sought from the Savior for healing and wholeness.  I encourage you to fight on – continuing to do all you can, faithfully waiting on the Lord. Trusting Him and His timing for the healing and wholeness you seek.

Sister Amy A. Wright, First Counselor in the Primary General Presidency, taught of the blessings available to us by patiently and faithfully waiting on the Savior’s healing:

“Waiting upon the Lord can be a sacred place—a place of polishing and refining where we can come to know the Savior in a deeply personal way. … Exercising faith in Christ means trusting not only in God’s will but also in His timing. For He knows exactly what we need and precisely when we need it. (General Conference, April 2022)

I testify that the Savior has the power to heal us from our afflictions.  He paid the price to be our Divine Healer.  One of the juxtapositions in the plan of happiness was that the torture, suffering, and scaring Jesus Christ endured would provide the means for us to be healed and made whole.

“…he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; …; and with his stripes we are healed.”  (Mosiah 14:5)

Sister Quinn and I pray you will enjoy a Spirit filled week preparing for Easter. We testify, “He is risen. It is true.”

Love,

President Quinn
