 Hello!  I hope this letter finds you healthy and happy.  Thank you to those who wrote me last week.  I enjoyed hearing from you.  I take time every day to read and respond to your letters.  You inspire me.

Thank you to Santa Rosa Zone for the invitation to your P-day activity in the gym last Monday.  What a great zone!  I struggled with the Mexican line dancing (so glad I was in the back row where no one could watch me).  Sister Quinn loved learning the dance!

Please continue to keep Elder and Sister Kunzler and their daughter, Sheri Neeley, in your prayers.  I know the Kunzlers are grateful to you.

I would like to spend one more week on the topic “Go Deep”.  Last week I shared with you a job I had in high school to dig a ditch for the foundation of a retaining wall in my neighbor’s backyard.  I learned much from this job; especially, the importance of a firm foundation to a structure and the work required to build one. 

This week I share the warning and counsel President Nelson recently gave us about our personal spiritual foundation:

… it is now time that we each implement extraordinary measures—perhaps measures we have never taken before—to strengthen our personal spiritual foundations. Unprecedented times call for unprecedented measures.

My dear brothers and sisters, these are the latter days. If you and I are to withstand the forthcoming perils and pressures, it is imperative that we each have a firm spiritual foundation built upon the rock of our Redeemer, Jesus Christ.

So I ask each of you, how firm is your foundation? And what reinforcements to your testimony and understanding of the gospel are needed?  (October 2021 General Conference, The Temple and Your Spiritual Foundation)

We sustain President Nelson as a Prophet, Seer, and Revelator.  In his capacity as a Seer, he can see the future and warn us of future events.  Please ponder his warning to us that we live in “unprecedented times” requiring “unprecedented measures”.  Please consider President Nelson’s invitation to examine your spiritual foundation to identify required reinforcements to strengthen you.  Please prepare a plan – examine, ponder, and write down specific things you are going to do now and in the future to strengthen your spiritual foundation.  A living prophet is warning us about the days ahead.  I look forward to discussing this topic with you in our interviews in a few weeks.

I end with the promise given to us by Ammon, one of the great missionaries in the Book of Mormon:

… when the storm cometh they shall be gathered together in their place, that the storm cannot penetrate to them; yea, neither shall they be driven with fierce winds whithersoever the enemy listeth to carry them.

But behold, they are in the hands of the Lord of the harvest, and they are his; and he will raise them up at the last day.  (Alma 26:6-7)

My and Sister Quinn’s greatest desire for each of you is that you are constantly in the protecting and loving hands of the Lord – that you are His.  What a beautiful and comforting promise!
