High Love - The CASRM Way

High Love – The CASRM Way

President Quinn’s Weekly Message

California Santa Rosa Mission

March 10th, 2025

Sister Quinn and I had the opportunity of listening to Elder Hobi’s mission report to his ward earlier today. He did an outstanding job sharing his experiences in CASRM learning, sharing, and gaining a personal testimony of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Sister Quinn and I could not have been prouder of him.

As proud as we were of his report, it was a text message we received following the sacrament meeting that touched us deeply. A former CASRM missionary, who attended Elder Hobi’s report, sent a text to us reporting that 20 other CASRM missionaries were in attendance to show their love and support to Elder Hobi. We also received a photo of these former missionaries all together with Elder Hobi. That is a touching example of high love – a core aspect of the culture we all strive to live in CASRM. Sister Quinn and I are grateful to see our missionaries continuing to live our culture of high love for one another. Thank you!

When we are baptized, we covenant to “mourn with those that mourn” (Mosiah 18:9). I am grateful for the many acts of love CASRM missionaries have extended to Elder Hobi during this time of deep loss and mourning for him and his family. Elder Hobi and his mother have shared with me the strength they have felt from the many prayers offered on their behalf.

As we mourn for others, we follow the example of Jesus Christ at the time of raising Lazarus from the dead. In this account recorded in the New Testament we read:

“Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died… When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled.. Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. Jesus wept.” (John 11:32-35)

Who could not be touched to read of the Savior weeping!?! The Savior knew that in a few moments He would restore Lazarus to life. Despite this knowledge, the Savior still wept beholding the tears and sorrow of those He loved. I am certain the Savior’s tears brought comfort to those who were mourning the death of Lazarus.

Just as He did for Mary and Martha, I know the Savior weeps for each of us in our times of sorrow. When we extend love and sympathy to those who mourn, we emulate the Savior – we extend His high love to those who need it.

Sister Quinn and I are grateful for the love shown for one another across CASRM. Love for the Lord and the love we share with others are the greatest signs of our discipleship. We pray that extending the Savior’s love in word and deed will continue to be a hallmark of our culture in CASRM.

We love each of you!

Love,

President Quinn
