Seek This Jesus

“Seek This Jesus”

President Quinn’s Weekly Message

California Santa Rosa Mission

May 13th, 2024

We enjoyed a fun and inspiring week in zone conferences with you last week. We are in Eureka today for our last zone conference of this transfer. It is such a delight for Sister Quinn and me to be with you. Thank you for the kindness and love you extend to us. We are grateful to those who provided instruction, prayers, meals, and music during the conferences.

I wish to focus my message this week on a scripture Elders Poulsen and Wiley shared with us during their training:

“And now, I would commend you to seek this Jesus of whom the prophets and apostles have written, that the grace of God the Father, and also the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost, which beareth record of them, may be and abide in you forever.” (Ether 12:41)

I love the counsel to “seek” Jesus Christ. I do not believe there is a more important ambition or pursuit we can have in life than to seek Jesus Christ. We have a unique opportunity during this time of missionary service to focus on building our relationship and testimony of Jesus Christ. Life will likely not present an opportunity again to be singularly focused on serving the Savior. As we take advantage of this time to seek Jesus Christ, we will be blessed with new perspectives and spiritual strength that will help us overcome the challenges life in a fallen world presents us. President Nelson has shared with us things we can do to overcome the world by seeking Jesus Christ:

“Overcoming the world is not an event that happens in a day or two. It happens over a lifetime as we repeatedly embrace the doctrine of Christ. We cultivate faith in Jesus Christ by repenting daily and keeping covenants that endow us with power. We stay on the covenant path and are blessed with spiritual strength, personal revelation, increasing faith, and the ministering of angels. Living the doctrine of Christ can produce the most powerful virtuous cycle, creating spiritual momentum in our lives.”

In this same conference address, President Nelson promises us the blessings that will be ours from seeking Jesus Christ:

“As we strive to live the higher laws of Jesus Christ, our hearts and our very natures begin to change. The Savior lifts us above the pull of this fallen world by blessing us with greater charity, humility, generosity, kindness, self-discipline, peace, and rest.” (October 2022 General Conference)

In our zone conference message this week, Sister Quinn and I discussed the blessings of living a life based on gospel principles. We shared how these principles lift us to a higher level of obedience that blesses us with greater spiritual power to overcome the growing temptations and distractions of the world. Remember, it is easier to be 100% obedient than 98%.

Thank you serving in the “Savior’s Way” – for helping to grow our culture of high love and high expectations. We love you! Sister Quinn and I pray the Lord’s choicest and most abundant blessings upon each of you.

Love,

President Quinn
