Light the World - Be the Light!
Amanda Gordon in a poem penned the words: “There is always light, if only you are brave enough to see it, if only you are brave enough to be it.” This Christmas, in a world where there is darkness, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints invites you to LIGHT THE WORLD and offers many ideas on how to BE THE LIGHT. The church’s website explains what this is:
“LightTheWorld is an invitation to transform Christmas into a season of service. It’s a worldwide movement to touch hearts and change lives by doing the things Jesus did: feeding the hungry, comforting the lonely, visiting the sick and afflicted, and showing kindness to everyone. Jesus said, “Ye are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14). #LightTheWorld is the perfect way to let our light—and His light—shine brightly.”

At different Zone Conferences this week, we talked about our Savior, His Temple, and how as Missionaries we can light the world in many different ways. They would love to bring a message of Christ’s birth to you. Click here: Meet Missionaries, to locate missionaries in your area.
You will see our missionaries at a number of service projects for the Holiday Season. They are also helping out in Creche Festivals around Northern California. They are passing out this card (below) to invite all to be a part of the Light The World campaign.
Interesting to Know!
While visiting Mark’s brother Jeff and his wife Laurie for Thanksgiving last week I had the opportunity to visit with two of their four children, Gracie Jane and Ruby Rose. Ruby Rose, is a graphic artist and is doing an internship for Bonneville Communications in Utah. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has hired this company to do the artwork for the Light the World campaign this December. Ruby Rose has worked on the art for Light the World. Just text the word “Light” to 71234 and you will receive 8 pieces of her artwork about the Nativity and a way to celebrate the different symbols of the Nativity. It is interesting to know that the Church is always very careful how Christ is portrayed in art and videos etc. Even a simple graphic artwork of the Christ Child needs to convey the Savior in a beautiful and sacred way. Ruby told me that they had to send in multiple artwork for the “baby Jesus” texting graphic before one was accepted. See artwork below.
I love the idea of being a light unto the world. I know that whenever I have been in darkness, I have sought out light and the source of the light has come from my Savior, Jesus Christ. I want to reflect His light to others so they can see more clearly their great worth and the path in life that they can take to find happiness. I invite you to join in on Lighting the World this Christmas Season . Click Here: Light The World
