Just a Mom - Wow

Happy Mother’s Day! My daughter Natalie sent me a post today put out by the Church on social media, entitled “Just a Mom.” I love how it portrays moms as “life givers”, “life lovers”, and “creators of heaven on earth.”

After watching this post it feels appropriate that by flipping the word “mom” over it spells “wow”. Webster Dictionary says that wow means - enthusiastic admiration and astonishment. This is a perfect definition for my wonderful mother and mother-in-law, Daryl Hoole and Joan Quinn. Both of these women are still living. Joan is 94 years old and continues to paint crafts for gifts. Daryl is 90 years old and just wrote a book entitled, The Art of Aging Joyfully. Joan has over 100 great grandchildren and Daryl is not far behind. These women continue to serve, strengthen, sacrifice and give sustaining love.

I’m thankful for Mother’s Day - a day set aside to honor motherhood. Despite my flaws, motherhood and grandmothering have brought me my greatest joy. I am eternally grateful my four daughters and daughter-in-law have chosen to be mothers! I am in awe watching them mother my sweet grandchildren. In September my eighteenth grandchild will be born. I love and adore each one!

Mark and Elaine Quinn Family - June 2023

I am currently mothering over two hundred missionaries. I work with them so they can be healthy, happy and successful missionaries. I look after their spiritual, mental and emotional health. (Sister Schneider, our nurse, is in charge of their physical health.) I want each of them to know that I love them and am grateful for their sacrifice to serve here with me and Mark in the California Santa Rosa mission as we invite all to come unto our Savior, Jesus Christ. President Quinn and I just spent the week in zone conferences all around our mission teaching and training our fabulous missionaries. Here are photos of some of our missionaries.

Thanks for reading my weekly updates. We love staying close to family and friends! That means YOU! - Elaine
