Heeding the Prophet - Syrup and Inspired Messages
During our Miracle Monday zoom call this week, I quoted to the missionaries from 3 Nephi 9. This is where it is recorded, at the time of Christ’s death in Jerusalem, the great and terrible destruction that took place upon the face of the whole earth. The “Come Follow Me” podcaster, Armand Johansen, who I was listening to while reading the scriptures, pointed out that the Lord said He, himself caused the destruction to happen, because the people would not listen to the prophets. The Lord says this SIX different times in that one chapter, that “I hid their wickedness and abominations from before my face because of the wickedness in casting out the prophets and stoning those whom I did send.”
After having this pointed out to me, I told our missionaries how grateful I am that general conference is this weekend, and that we all will have the opportunity to listen to the prophet counsel us as well as the twelve apostles and other church leaders. I told them we have to be careful to not figuratively “stone” or “cast out” the prophets by not following their admonition, but to listen and make changes in our lives that will bring about righteousness.
Missionaries look forward to general conference and being spiritually and physically fed. We love having our missionaries from the Santa Rosa Zone over for cinnamon rolls that I make. This year we also had farmer’s pancakes (pancakes with a fried egg in the middle) thanks to Elders Gordon and Schmidt. All throughout the mission our missionaries gathered and enjoyed treats while listening to inspired talks. Our missionaries continue this tradition even after being home. So fun to see photos of our returned missionaries! See photos
