President Quinn’s Weekly Message
California Santa Rosa Mission
August 4th, 2024
Tomorrow Elder and Sister Larsen will return home from serving in CASRM. We will miss them! The title of my message this week describers their service in CASRM. Sister Larsen has spent hours preparing delicious meals for us and managing the mission office. Elder Larsen has carefully and with expertise managed CASRM finances. We are grateful for their angelic service.
We welcome Elder and Sister Nate to the mission office. Elder Nate will manage our mission finances, while Sister Nate will manage the mission office. When you visit the mission office, please stop in to introduce yourself and welcome them to CASRM. They are wonderful.
I recently read the following scripture in the Book of Mormon. It has been on my mind for a few weeks. I share it with you:
“Do ye not remember that I said unto you that after ye had received the Holy Ghost ye could speak with the tongue of angels? And now, how could ye speak with the tongue of angels save it were by the Holy Ghost? Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.” (2 Nephi 32:2-3)
I love this instruction from Nephi that we speak the words of angels when we teach by the Spirit. You often comment in your weekly letters to me how you have felt the Spirit in your studies and lessons. I hope you remember that when you feel the Spirit you are speaking and acting as an angel would. President Holland taught this truth:
“… when we speak of those who are instruments in the hand of God, we are reminded that not all angels are from the other side of the veil. Some of them we walk with and talk with—here, now, every day. … Indeed heaven never seems closer than when we see the love of God manifested in the kindness and devotion of people so good and so pure that angelic is the only word that comes to mind.” (GC, The Ministry of Angels, October 2008)
I am inspired as I observe and learn about your selfless, loving, and faithful service to your friends, Church members, and each other. I see the Lord working through you – just as angels would were they sent from heaven to deliver a message or provide a service. Thank you for what you do each day as disciples – even angles sent by the Lord. It feels like heaven to me when we are together.
Sister Quinn and I love you. We are excited to be with you this week in zone conference.
Love,
President Quinn
