Can You Feel So Now?

We welcome our eight new missionaries who arrived last Friday. They are impressive! I am excited for you to meet them. Please extend a warm CASRM welcome when you meet them.
I have enjoyed the opportunity of studying the Book of Mormon this year in the Church’s Come Follow Mecurriculum. I love the Book of Mormon! I am strengthened each day I read and study it. This last week I was inspired by the counsel Alma extended to the people of Zarahemla in Alma 5:26:
“And now behold, I say unto you, my brethren, if ye have experienced a change of heart, and if ye have felt to sing the song of redeeming love, I would ask, can ye feel so now?”
I invite you to make the effort to record the experiences you have when you feel the Spirit. Recording your experiences with the Spirit will help you remember the hand of the Lord in your life when times of doubt or temptation arise. Earlier in Alma 5, Alma taught the importance of remembering the blessings of the Lord.
“And now behold, I say unto you, my brethren, you that belong to this church, have you sufficiently retained in remembrance the captivity of your fathers? Yea, and have you sufficiently retained in remembrance his mercy and long-suffering towards them? And moreover, have ye sufficiently retained in remembrance that he has delivered their souls from hell?” (Alma 5:6)
We should recognize the use of the word “remembrance” three times in this verse. The Lord clearly wanted Alma to teach the people of Zarahemla, and us, the importance of remembering the times when we have witnessed His hand in our life. As we remember times when we have felt the Spirit and the Savior’s redeeming love, we will be able to answer in the affirmative, “can you feel so now?”
Sister Quinn and I are in Eureka tonight. We will begin zone conference week tomorrow with the Eureka Zone. We look forward to seeing all of you this week in zone conference.
