Thank you for your participation in our mission tour last week. Sister Quinn and I could not be prouder of the way you represented yourselves. We are grateful for the inspired instruction provided to us by Elder and Sister Johnson. During our final meeting with the Johnson’s Friday morning, they shared with Sister Quinn and me how impressed they were with our missionaries and mission culture. They congratulated us on the culture of obedience they observed among our missionaries and our focus on the Doctrine of Christ.
Since the mission tour, you have put 53 of your friends on date for baptism. That is amazing! Thank you for putting into practice the things we were taught during the tour.
This weekend we will have the opportunity to be instructed in General Conference. This is a wonderful blessing we enjoy twice a year to receive inspired instruction from prophets, seers, and revelators.
Prior to our mission, Sister Quinn served as our ward relief society president. In one of her messages to our ward, she shared the following quote from Sheri Dew:
“As human beings engaged in the mortal experience, we all encounter things that scare us, worry us, confuse us, hurt us, discourage us, puzzle us, and potentially threaten our faith and our progression. These thoughts cause us to have questions.”
I am confident many of you, like me, have questions – perhaps more particularly during this week of transfers. It may be a difficult doctrinal question. It may be a question about your assignment or companion at a transfer. It may be that you want to see more clearly your path in life. It may be something else that concerns or worries you.
As we approach General Conference this weekend, I invite you to seek and find answers to your questions from the instruction we will be given by our inspired leaders. Between now and the end of General Conference, please take the time to ponder and pray about the questions you have. Write these questions down. Then during the conference, listen for the answers you seek in the words of the messages that will be given to you. As you listen to the words, be sensitive to the thoughts or feelings that come into your mind or heart. These thoughts and feelings are given from the Spirit communicating and confirming truth to you. When you recognize answers to your questions, write them down so that in the future you can reflect on the inspiration you have been blessed to receive.
As your prepare for General Conference, please follow the example Enos has set for us as he sought answers to his questions through prayer:
“And my soul hungered; and I kneeled down before my Maker, and I cried unto him in mighty prayer and supplication…” (Enos 1:2)
It is my promise that as you listen to General Conference this weekend, with your sincere and humble questions offered in “mighty prayer and supplication”, that the Lord will bless you with the thoughts and ideas you need as you seek personal answers.
Sister Quinn and I hope you enjoy General Conference this coming weekend.
Love,
President Quinn
