“Therefore” Experiences #2
“Therefore” Experiences #2
President Quinn’s Weekly Message
California Santa Rosa Mission
July 15th, 2024
Last week I shared a message entitled Therefore Experiences. Because I believe this message is so important, I would like to continue the theme in my letter to you this week. As a reminder, the “therefore” experiences of which I have written cause a change in our life. Hopefully, the change we experience draws us closer and anchors us to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
I wish to thank Elder Anderson for sharing this scripture with me. This scripture was written about the missionary service of the sons of Mosiah. As missionaries serving in CASRM, I believe the “therefore” in these verses is relevant to us. Please pay attention to what happens before and after the “therefore” in these verses:
“…they had waxed strong in the knowledge of the truth; for they were men of a sound understanding and they had searched the scriptures diligently, that they might know the word of God. But this is not all; they had given themselves to much prayer, and fasting; therefore they had the spirit of prophecy, and the spirit of revelation, and when they taught, they taught with power and authority of God. …yea, by the power of their words many were brought before the altar of God, to call on his name and confess their sins before him.” Alma 17:2-4
These scriptures beautifully and powerfully teach the impact diligent scripture study, prayer, and fasting had in the lives of these missionaries. Because of these efforts, the sons of Mosiah “therefore… had the spirit of prophecy, and the spirit of revelation, and when they taught, they taught with power and authority of God.”
What a powerful lesson for us!
We are blessed to hear a few of your “therefore” experiences each week on Miracle Monday. Thank you!
I have been fortunate to attend lessons with a few of you this last week. I have been impressed with the difference your service is making in the lives of those you teach. It is clear to see the “therefore” change occurring in the lives of your friends.
Sister Quinn and I are blessed to witness the “therefore” growth we see in each of you. We have now been serving in CASRM for over a year. We comment often about the spiritual growth we see you making as you sacrifice for the Lord and extend yourselves in service to others.
We pray that through your missionary service in CASRM, enriched by your individual efforts to study the scriptures, build a relationship with your Father in Heaven in prayer, and recognizing the hand of the Lord in your life, you will “therefore” choose to be a lifelong disciple of Jesus Christ.
Love,
President Quinn
