He is Risen - It is True

He is Risen by Elder Sellers

Elder Braydon Sellers, a missionary here in Santa Rosa California from Roy, Utah, is an artist. I asked him if he would draw a picture for President Quinn and me to use as a gift for our missionaries to celebrate Easter. Using colored pencils, he drew this picture of the Savior leaving the tomb. I love this point of view, seeing the rock sides of the tomb as the Savior walks out. The sheep witnessing the Savior’s resurrection feels sweet and appropriate to me. The blossoms on the trees and the green grass of Spring symbolizing new life. The Savior’s robe shows the brilliance of exaltation. “He is risen, as he said! “ Matthew 28:6. This picture portrays the most glorious event in the history of the world!

As a mission we recognized the risen Christ with a few little gifts for our missionaries. The picture of the resurrection (above), a key ring, a list of the different names of Jesus Christ (below), a scripture highlighter, and Cadbury Easter candy. The keyring depicts a fun story of the Easter greeting from Crete, an Island off of Greece.

In celebration of Easter, President Quinn asked the missionaries to reflect on one name of Jesus Christ and why they relate to this particular name at this time in their life. He had some tender conversations with missionaries as they spoke with him about why they chose a certain name of Jesus Christ.

It has been a wonderful and inspiring week honoring Holy Week. My granddaughter, Elaine Francis, has a scripture journal that she draws in while her parents read scriptures to her. This is her rendition of the Savior leaving the tomb.

I testify that Christ lives. The victory has been won! Easter celebrates the victory over sin and death and the glorious gift of eternal life. He is Risen! It is True! This is the beautiful and loving message we as missionaries work hard to bring to all of Heavenly Father’s children. As a special Easter gift to you from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I am attaching this link to the Tabernacle Choir’s Easter performance. It is amazing! Enjoy! (30 minutes long.)

Happy Easter! Elaine Quinn

P.S. Below is the list of names of Christ that we gave our missionaries. (This is not a comprehensive list.) What name would you add? What is your favorte name and why?
