The Book of Mormon - A Witness of Christ

Nephi and Moroni - ancient prophets, Joseph Smith - latter day prophet and Elder Lunt a missionary here in the California Santa Rosa Mission have made sacrifices to make it possible for people to come unto Christ through reading the Book of Mormon.

More and more as the years go by, I love and appreciate the Book of Mormon. By reading it, I have been divinely guided in my life. It has given me great strength in difficult times. Most importantly, the Book of Mormon has been a means of bringing me to have faith in my Savior, Jesus Christ and His doctrine. It has given me the opportunity of belonging to the kingdom of God on the earth today and taught me about the many blessings that await me in the eternities. The Book of Mormon offers me fresh hope and a continual desire to learn, grow, and become my best self. I am deeply grateful for the Book of Mormon. I feel privileged that it is a part of my life, and so I desire to share it with others.

Lately, I have been thinking about the many sacrifices that have gone into and continue to go into bringing this great book of scripture to all the world. I think of Nephi and the other ancient prophets on the American continent who went to great lengths to write and preserve the teachings of the Lord for this book. I’m grateful to Moroni for having faith to bury the plates with the many records, believing that God had a great purpose for them. And then there are the many sacrifices Joseph Smith made to bring about the Book of Mormon. Today, as I think about the Book of Mormon I have a tender heart for young missionaries who are bringing this great volume of scripture to all the world!

Joseph Smith stated that the Book of Mormon would “bring men nearer to God by abiding by its precepts than any other book.” The book is another witness of Jesus Christ, standing alongside the Bible. The Lord said the book would roll forth to all the world. I am so happy I can be a part of bringing this book to all the world with the missionaries here in Northern California.

As of 2021 the Book of Mormon has been translated into 115 languages with 20 more languages being worked on. Here in the California Santa Rosa Mission we have Spanish speaking missionaries who are reaching out to those whose native language is Spanish. See Elders Robinson, Chandler and Riofrio in video here:

Our office secretary, Sister Larsen orders hundreds of copies of the Book of Mormon for the missionaries to take with them and give out to people they meet. After MLC (Mission Leader Council) the other day, I took some photos of the Zone Leaders and Sister Training Leaders carrying out boxes of Books of Mormon to take to all the missionaries in their zones throughout our mission.

I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that it testifies of the Living Christ. I know that its teachings are true. Two years ago I took the opportunity in my own copy of the Book of Mormon to add my name to the witnesses of the Book of Mormon. I love seeing my name there! Have a great day - Elaine
