With a Voice of Thunder - Social Media
When was the last time you read a book that was life changing or were so excited about something you learned that you wanted to tell everyone you know about it?
The prophet Alma in the Book of Mormon shows great zeal in his desire to share the news of God’s plan of redemption to all mankind. He wishes he could speak with a voice of thunder unto every people, so that all might come unto the Lord and sorrow could be removed from the face of the earth.

Alma’s exact words are: O that I were an angel, and could have the wish of mine heart, that I might go forth and speak with the trump of God, with a voice to shake the earth, and cry repentance unto every people!
Yea, I would declare unto every soul, as with the voice of thunder, repentance and the plan of redemption, that they should repent and come unto our God, that there might not be more sorrow upon all the face of the earth. Alma 29:1-2
Alma goes on to say that he sins for wishing for something that can’t be. My daughter Hannah Francis pointed out to our missionaries, as she did some training, that Alma’s wish to share his knowledge and testimony with the whole world is our reality and an answer to Alma’s prayer. This is so exciting! God has given us the means through social media and the internet to reach out and bless more lives than we ever thought possible!

Hannah, a social media enthusiast, has done a lot of research with social media influencers. President Quinn and I invited Hannah to come to Santa Rosa and travel with us to our five days of zone conferences and train with our technology missionaries on the possibilities of social media to find people who are ready to accept the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She did an amazing job training our missionaries on how to effectively communicate through social media channels. It was fun to share our mission experience with our daughter Hannah.

The purpose of a missionary’s work is to: “Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.” (Preach My Gospel). As a mission we are excited to use social media to fulfill our purpose and bless the lives of others!
