Ask, Knock, and Seek

President Quinn’s Weekly Message

 This weekend, we will have the opportunity to be instructed in General Conference. This is a wonderful blessing we enjoy twice each year to receive inspired instruction. This week I share an invitation Sister Quinn extended to members of our Naperville Ward Relief Society last March before General Conference:

“Sheri Dew, a former Second Counselor in the General Relief Society Presidency, taught this principle: ‘As human beings engaged in the mortal experience, we all encounter things that scare us, worry us, confuse us, hurt us, discourage us, puzzle us, and potentially threaten our faith and our progression. These thoughts cause us to have questions.’

I am confident that many of you, like me, have questions. It may be a difficult doctrinal question. It may be that you want to see more clearly your path in life. It may be something else that concerns or worries you. As I have thought about you, along with the coming of General Conference this weekend, I have remembered something I was taught years ago – to write down your heart felt question with a prayer, that this question will be answered by a loving Heavenly Father. These are two critical steps in seeking and receiving truth and light in your life. 

It is my hope that as you listen to General Conference this weekend, with your sincere and humble questions in mind, that the Lord will bless you with the thoughts and ideas you need as you seek out your personal answers. I know our Heavenly Father always hears and answers our questions in His way and timing. The answers may come in small doses or all at once. I pray that you will be willing to ask, knock, and seek to find growth and strength as you hear the words of our prophets, seers, revelators, and leaders during this conference weekend.”

I am grateful for this counsel from Sister Quinn. Following this invitation, several members of our ward received the answers they were seeking from the messages in General Conference. I am confident you will also find answers to your questions in the messages we receive in General Conference.
