Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!

President Quinn’s Weekly Message

California Santa Rosa Mission

November 20th, 2023

We extend a warm welcome to the 25 new missionaries who joined us last Friday. We are grateful to serve with you in CASRM. Thank you for the spirit of sacrifice and devotion you have already added to our mission. We look forward to getting to know you better as we serve together in the work of the Lord.

I love the Thanksgiving Holiday! Our family has many traditions we enjoy during the holiday – from a Turkey Bowl in the morning to a delicious meal in the afternoon and family games in the evening. One of the games we play after Thanksgiving dinner is the “Coin Game”. It’s one of grandchildren’s favorite traditions. We will miss not being able to play it with them this year. Remind us to tell you how we play the game. What Thanksgiving traditions do your family have?

Thanksgiving was also special because I tried not to travel for work during the year’s busiest week for the airlines. I was happy to have others travel to the airport to catch a flight. I was content to be at home with my family the entire week – a rare occurrence due to my demanding career.

Most of all I am grateful for the spirit of thanksgiving I feel during this holiday. I am grateful for the opportunity to pause during this season to reflect on my many blessings and to express heart felt gratitude to others – and most importantly my Father in Heaven for the abundant blessings of my life. The Lord promises choice blessings to those who show thanksgiving:

“And he who receiveth all things with thankfulness shall be made glorious; and the things of this earth shall be added unto him, even an hundred fold, yea, more.” (D&C 78:19)

To be made glorious – what a promise! In this short verse, the Lord teaches us the power and blessings of a grateful heart. What blessings are you most grateful for? Please find time this week to reflect on your blessings—express gratitude to others and to your Father in Heaven. I promise the Spirit will warm and sanctify you.

This Thanksgiving Sister Quinn and I have much to be grateful for – most especially for the blessing of serving with you in CASRM. We are grateful for the kindness and love you have extended to us. We cherish your goodness. We honor you. We express gratitude to you and the Lord for your dedication and sacrifice to the great cause we share of gathering Israel.

We pray the Lord’s choicest and abundant blessings upon each of you and your family.

Love,

President Quinn
