The Good Shepherd
The Good Shepherd
President Quinn’s Weekly Message
California Santa Rosa Mission
March 17th, 2024
As I prepare for Easter Sunday, I continue to enjoy reading the four gospels in the New Testament. I hope you are being inspired by this mission wide invitation. This week my reading included John 10. In this chapter the Savior testifies of His role as the Good Shepherd:
“I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. (John10:14&15)
In my scriptures, I have a notation pointing me to the beautiful words found in Psalm 23:
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
It is difficult to imagine more beautiful promises in so few words.
Last week I shared how the Savior appropriately carries the title of the Lamb of God. This week I invite you to consider ways the Savior is appropriately called the Good Shepherd.
I am grateful for the tender and watchful care the Savior provides me and my loved ones. As His disciple, I am grateful to follow the path He has prepared for me. I have found peace, nourishment, and rest in the “green pastures” the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, provides me. I know that following Him will return me to the presence of my Heavenly Father.
Thank you for your faithfulness, goodness, and discipleship. Sister Quinn and I love you!
Love,
President Quinn
