Power, Love, & A Sound Mind - Sister’s Conference

For a long time now, I have been praying and pondering over how I can strengthen our wonderful sister missionaries. I want to help them live up to their knowledge, their potential and their covenants with God. I want them to know they can do hard things! I want to see them flourish, and grow, and even glow! It can be easy to fall into Satan’s trap of perfectionism, comparing ourselves to others, and self-criticism. I decided to hold a Sister’s Conference to share with them some of the thoughts that I have been thinking about.

The theme for the conference came from the scripture in 2 Timothy 1:7

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

This scripture has always been a favorite of mine as it helped me in a dark time of my life to understand the power, love, strength, and confidence the Lord wants me to possess. What amazing and abundant blessings from a loving Heavenly Father for each one of us.

To make the Sister’s Conference even more special I asked my daughters if they would like to have a sister’s reunion in California and if they would join President Quinn and me here for the conference and speak to the sister missionaries and share their testimonies. They came and spoke, it was wonderful.

We gathered all the sisters together on Thursday, a very rainy, wet afternoon. The conference included my teachings, a Q & A with a panel of senior sister missionaries (Sisters Nate, Wilson, Lemon, Kennan, Schneider, & Frodsham), a musical number (Sisters McMaster & Wright), dinner & dessert, my daughters speaking, hair and make-up tips from two sister missionaries (Sisters Dunlap & Scott), a message from President Quinn, a team building rope game, and a dress exchange. What a marvelous and spiritual time we had together! Here are some photos from the conference and my daughters’ trip.
