Missionary Minded Members - Thank You!

Sister Steinfeldt with Aaron and Liesel Hall - They have a daughter on a mission.

One of the best ways, and certainly a favorite way to do missionary work for our missionaries is to enlist the help of members of the Church. Each weekend members of the ward (local congregation) take turns having our missionaries over for dinner. We have two to four missionaries in every one of the 50 wards in our mission here in Santa Rosa. The guidelines for our missionaries having a meal with members is to stay no longer than an hour and to leave a spiritual message with them. As the members come to know the missionaries, they can introduce them to their friends so the missionaries have the opportunity to teach their friends about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. It is a sweet experience to teach loved ones of our members about the love and redemption the Savior offers all.

Members of the church can do many things to further missionary work. Some of which are:

  • invite missionaries into their home for a meal and a spiritual message

  • share the gospel of Jesus Christ with their friends in simple ways

  • invite friends to come to church

  • share missionary experiences on social media

  • volunteer to participate in a missionary lesson

  • welcome and sit by friends the missionaries bring to church

  • fellowship new converts

  • invite missionaries into their homes to teach their friends

Sister and President Quinn welcoming ward members

President Quinn and I live in the Rincon Valley Ward here in Santa Rosa. This ward is wonderful at supporting our missionaries. We decided it would be nice to invite them to the mission home for an open house as a thank you for their love and support. This evening, we had approximately 70 members of our ward attend our open house.  It was great to have some time to visit. We enjoyed getting to know them better.

We are grateful to the good members of the church here in Northern California. They support and love our missionaries in beautiful ways.

Last year approximately 35% of our mission baptisms were friends and family of our members.

Here are some photos from the open house:

Bishop and Ann Brown. Ann made some fun “missionary” sugar cookies

The cookies Ann made. I loved all the detail and lettering.

Yesterday, Saturday, Sisters Freeman and Steinfeldt and I made heart shaped cookies for the open house. It was fun!

Thanks for reading my mission updates. I hope these are informative and fun for you! Have a great week! Elaine
