The Matchless Gift - God’s Son — Mark & Elaine Quinn

Speaking of Jesus Christ, the apostles and prophets have said:

“He is the light, the life, and the hope of the world. His way is the path that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come. God be thanked for the matchless gift of His divine Son.” (The Living Christ)

It has been a wonderful week! As a mission we have celebrated Christmas and the matchless gift of God’s Son by going to the temple - the House of the Lord. President Quinn and I spent two days in the Oakland Temple with our missionaries. We took the Pack Four zones on Wednesday and the Coastal zones on Thursday. My heart will always remember the Celestial Room in the temple full of our missionaries sitting and standing quietly, pondering their thoughts on the Atonement of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Afterwords we had a testimony meeting and a Christmas dinner. At the end of the testimony meeting, we watched a video of our missionaries reciting The Living Christ, a testimony of apostles and prophets.

Back in August, President Quinn and I challenged our missionaries to memorize The Living Christ. And they did it! During zone conferences last week, the tech Elders filmed each zone (and a few districts) reciting parts of the testimony. It is the great hope of President Quinn and me that this testimony will strengthen our missionaries and help them to continue being lifelong disciples of our Savior, Jesus Christ. This will bring them great joy in this life and eternal life in the world to come!

We gave each missionary a gift of a challenge coin/key ring. We had them sign their name on a board next to the apostles and prophets’ signatures testifying of their own belief in the Savior “the only begotten Son in the flesh the Redeemer of the world.” (The Living Christ)

We shed tears of joy as our missionaries stood up in the testimony meeting expressing their love and their faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ whose birth we celebrate from two millennia ago. I add my testimony that the Christ Child is the matchless gift and that He lives! It is through Him we can have eternal life!

The Spirit was tangible throughout the day in the temple and at the testimony meeting. We then enjoyed a Christmas dinner, visiting and listening to some Christmas carol music with chimes.
